Yes, and the answer depends entirely on the system. Screens and foam inserts fail under Douglas fir because the needles pass straight through and then compact inside the gutter. Fine micro-mesh is what holds up in conifer-heavy neighbourhoods; perforated aluminium panel is often the better value where broadleaf debris dominates.
